Sports Betting: What To Bet On This Weekend

Now this is what a sports weekend is supposed to feel like. It’s not quite the same with the big four sports still hibernating, but there are live events to watch and on wager on. Last week’s charity golf skins challenge featuring the biggest names on the PGA Tour was a huge success for online sportsbooks so we’ll do it again, though with a twist. Lefty and Tiger stage the sequel to ‘The Match’ only this time they’ll be playing with NFL royalty in a team match play event.

NASCAR moves from Darlington to Charlotte for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, the boys of summer are hard at work in South Korea and Taiwan, and Bundesliga paved the way for the most popular sport on the planet to return. All this and much more make up a busy sports weekend.

Golf

It’s the perfect game to play in the midst of a global pandemic given the inherent physical distancing. Hell, the state of Arizona even deemed golf course operations an essential service during the pandemic. You couldn’t ask for more star power on the golf course when Tiger Woods and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning face Phil Mickelson and six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady in The Match: Champions for Charity, taking place Sunday from the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida.

Teams will play the front nine using the best-ball format with modified alternate shot format on the back nine. The greatest golfers of their generation, between them Tiger and Lefty have 126 PGA Tour victories and 20 major championships. Woods is seeking revenge for his loss in 2018 when Mickelson took the prize in extra holes. Brady and Manning are decent on the links and have played in numerous pro-ams. The team of Woods and Manning is currently listed as a -185 favorite. Head to BookMaker.eu to bet on the match and throw down on some fun props, including hole-in-one, which team will win the first hole, and many others.

NASCAR

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, otherwise known by its acronym NASCAR, is making up for lost time. One of the first sports to get back to work, the drivers concluded a pair of runs at Darlington Raceway post coronavirus with Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin emerging victorious. The gang heads to North Carolina for the next two races starting Sunday with the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. 2018 winner Kyle Busch emerged as the betting favorite at BookMaker.eu with two-time winner Martin Truex Jr. a top contender to win NASCAR’s longest race.

Horse Racing

Santa Anita Park reopened last week and was a big hit with bettors. Saturday should be even better (or bettor) with two graded stakes races included in the lineup. Wildman Jack was installed as the favorite in the seven-horse field for the G3 Daytona Stakes. Post time is 5:39 p.m. ET. Another seven thoroughbreds run the $200,000 G2 Charles Whittingham Stakes at 7:19 p.m. ET. United is the favorite to topple the field in the 1 ¼ mile jaunt. Several tracks have reopened with Churchill Downs, Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs the featured spots. Check BookMaker.eu for post times and betting odds.

Soccer

Germany’s Bundesliga headlines a busy weekend on the pitch. The first major European soccer league to resume action has five matches on the docket Saturday with another three set for Sunday. Bayern Munich retained its top standing by knocking off Union Berlin 2-0 last weekend in the first match for the clubs since the coronavirus-induced hiatus. League scoring leader Robert Lewandowski netted his 26th goal of the season. Other leagues are also taking to the pitch with Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic resuming. Check out BookMaker.eu for a schedule and current match odds.

Baseball

Itching to get your baseball fix? You can tune into ESPN this weekend to watch games from the Korean Baseball Organization. At 4 a.m. ET on Saturday the Doosan Bears face the Samsung Lions.
