Super Bowl 53 Picks

Our pick: Todd Gurley to win Super Bowl MVP at +1500 odds

Reason: Tom Brady has won the Super Bowl MVP four different times in his career and he has been listed as the odds-on favorite to win it again. The Patriots spread the ball around quite a bit so it’s hard to know which skill player will excel in this game, keeping their odds low and increasing Brady’s chance at winning it. What shouldn’t be dismissed, though, is the fact that Brady did not have as good a regular season as he has in the past. Then again, he has looked like vintage Brady in the postseason. While it makes sense why he is the favorite, this is not the best choice.

Neither is Jared Goff, the Rams quarterback. Los Angeles is not too big of an underdog and if it wins the quarterback is always in the mix for MVP. However, Los Angeles’ passing game has not been dominant in the playoffs and it will be interesting to see what kind of game plan the team comes up with in this matchup.

The best choice to win the MVP is one of Goff’s teammates. Star running back Todd Gurley only had five touches in the NFC Championship game win over the Saints, but the word coming out of the team is that it was just inconsistency and not injury why he didn’t play much. If Gurley is healthy, he is a good choice to bounce back in a big way as he has been one of the best running backs in the NFL all season.

The oddsmakers have needed to make some contingencies after the performance last time out, and thus Gurley has a great value at +1500 odds. This is the perfect buy low opportunity as it is easy to see him having a big day on the ground and catching passes to lead his team to a Super Bowl crown.
