Monday Night Football – Bears vs Rams Predictions, Odds

Rams Host Bears in MNF Matchup of NFC Contenders

Fantasy football players may not love Nick Foles as Chicago’s starting quarterback because he doesn’t light up the stat sheet.  However, what Foles does do is win games.  Of course, Foles is the backup quarterback that led the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl championship.  Recently he replaced Mitchell Trubisky in Atlanta and engineered a stunning comeback win over the Falcons.  Trubisky may have better statistics but Foles gets the wins, which is all that matters to coach Matty Nagy and fans.  Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff was having a nice comeback season until last week’s Sunday Night Football loss at San Francisco.  Coach Sean McVay’s offense moves the ball effectively but struggles to finish in the red zone.

Los Angeles will carry their share of NFL odds handle as the home team looking to atone for their nationally televised loss to their arch rival.  Despite the loss at San Francisco the Rams are still seen as an improved club.  Sharps are impressed with the Rams quietly improved defense while squares always like a Monday night home favorite.  Concurrently this is one of those times when masses and sharps come together.  Foles is respected for winning the Super Bowl but his poor stats set off alarms with gamblers.  The fact of the matter is that Foles pales in comparison to Jared Goff.  Gamblers know that Goff gives the Rams a significant advantage at the most important position on the field.  That makes the Bears unappealing in this matchup.

Chicago Bears Team Overview

Last Sunday was a 23-16 NFL betting odds win for the Bears at the Carolina Panthers as  Chicago was a 2-point dog as under the total of 45 was a winning ticket too.  First place in the NFC North belongs to the Bears.  Chicago is 5-1 straight up, 4-2 on the board and 2-4 under the total.  Overall Chicago is ranked 27th in the NFL for scoring offense and seventh for points allowed.  Of major concern is a ground game ranked 28th in the league.  Coach Matt Nagy’s once stellar offensive reputation is taking a hit this year.

Los Angeles Rams Team Overview

Last Sunday the Rams lost at San Francisco 24-16 as 2.5-point chalk with over the total of 51 winning too.  Los Angeles is 4-2 straight up, 3-3 vs. the line, and 2-4 under the total. Second place with Arizona in the NFC West is LA’s current position.  Seattle leads the division.  NFL metrics show the Rams 19th for scoring offense and fifth for points allowed.

Rams coach Sean McVay fired defensive coordinator Wade Phillips after missing the playoffs last year.  Despite the fact that defense was actually better than the Rams offense.  But Los Angeles has returned to playing good complementary football in 2020.  For example, LA ranks 10th in the NFL for rushing which has taken pressure off the Rams defense.

Bears vs Rams Against the Spread

Overall, the Bears have covered just six of their last 18 games.  Chicago has gone under in four of their last five games.  On the road the Bears have paid in just three of their last nine tilts.  Four of their last six away games have gone over the total.  In Los Angeles the Bears are 4-2 over the total.

Meanwhile the Rams are 2-6 under the total at home.  Los Angeles is just 3-7 vs. the odds in their series with Chicago.  Five of the last seven meetings between the Rams and the Bears went under.  LA has also gone under in four of their last six.

Chicago Bears vs Los Angeles Rams Predictions

Best Bet:  Los Angeles Rams -5.5

In this situation expect the Rams to be focused and motivated.  Jared Goff gives them a big NFL gambling quarterback advantage.  As mentioned earlier the Bears have been inconsistent on the board.
